Installation of FlexLm Server for Windows/Linux/MacOSX. To configure your FlexLm license server and activate your ICM license you should: download the Hostid utility (lmhostid), Vendor daemon (molsoftd) and the Flexlm server utility (lmgrd) utilities according to your platform below follow the instructions for either linux or windows servers as shown below. Note: Do not install a license server and PowerDesigner on the same workstation. License servers installed with PowerDesigner v11 are not compatible with v12.0 and higher. If you no longer use PowerDesigner v11, we recommend that you uninstall the old license server. How do you determine the vendor daemon and lmgrd version in a FLEXlm installation?

Cause

The typical FLEXlm license server installation comes with designated versions for lmgrd and vendor daemon, however it has been seen that the FLEXlm installation is at times configured with custom FLEXlm binaries. It is possible that the lmgrd components could have been procured directly from Flexera Software.

Instructions on Windows:

Launch command prompt (Start > Run > type cmd)
Navigate to the <Installation_Dir>/common
Note: This directory will be different for different versions of the license server. If the default directory is different in your environment, you need to specify the full path to the vendor daemon to run the command in step #3.
For example: lmutil lmver <path_to_the binary>/lmgrd
Run the following commands:

For the lmgrd versionlmutil lmver lmgrd
For the vendor daemon version
lmutil lmver <name_of_vendor daemon>
